Riton (Get Physical, Modular, Space Ibiza)

After massive success touring with Radio Soulwax and taking up his annual summer residency at the legendary We Love nights at Space in Ibiza, Henry Smithson a.k.a Riton, lands in Japan for his London Calling debut. Riton’s (pronounced Reeton) career in dance music began in 1990s dance culture and the long trips to the Renaissance raves prompting him to launch his own promotions closer to his home in Newcastle. The success of the club led to signing to Grand Central records, the first non hip-hop act to sign to the label, and an outlet for his solo material as Riton.

As a DJ, Riton regularly plays venues including Fabric, Glastonbury, The End and The Warehouse Project in Manchester (including being a regular at Bugged Out) in the UK, Panorama Bar and Weekend in Berlin, The Rex and Triptyque in Paris and his We Love Space Ibiza residency, which he still has today. This is a man in demand. Riton DJs by himself, and also together with Ben Rhymer from the Fat Truckers as the Gucci Soundystem, who regularly rock London with their blend of ‘tough electro, acid house, bits of rock and digital ragga’.

As a producer, Riton has released a lot of diverse material, from his well known singles on Berlin’s Get Physical and Tiefschwarz’s Souvenir label to his new wave remixes of Datarock, Human League, Para One, Annie, Mylo, Run DMC and Simian Mobile Disco. He’s even remixed Justin Timberlake. The release of his acclaimed third album on Modular Recordings, ‘Eine Kleine Nacht Musik’ has propelled him to his current status as the ‘Man of the Moment.’

Radio SoulwaxのサポートDJとして一躍注目を浴び、今やイビサのモンスターパーティーWe Love @ Spaceのレジテントを務めるHenry SmithsonことRitonがLondon Callingにて日本上陸！ Riton(リートン)は90年から音楽活動を開始。有名DJへの登竜門ともいえるパーティーRenaissanceでのプレイが認められ、地元ニューキャッスルにて自身のパーティーをスタート。その後Grand Centralから熱烈なアプローチを受けレーベル初のノン・ヒップホップアーティストして契約、Riton名義で作品をリリース。プロダクションのみならず、DJとしても勢力に活動を行っており、イギリスのFabric、Glastonbury Festival、The End、マンチェスターの倉庫を巨大クラブ化したウェアハウスプロジェクト（Bugged Out！にも多数出演）、ベルリンのPanorama　BarやWeekend、パリのThe　Rex、Triptyqueなど数々のクラブやイベントにゲストDJとして招聘されている。また現在では、イビサの人気パーティーWe Love @ Spaceのレジデントとして活躍中。

Riton名義とは別に、the Fat TruckersのBen Rhymerとのユニット Gucci Soundystemとしても活動しており、オリジナリティー溢れる”タフ・エレクトロ/アシッドハウス/ロック＆デジタル・ラガ”サウンドでロンドンのクラバーを虜にしている。

ドイツの人気レーベルGet PhysicalやTiefschwarzのSouvenirレーベルから数々のシングルをリリースしており、またDatarock、Human League、Para One、Annie、Mylo、Run DMC、Simian Mobile Discoなどのニューウェイブ・リミックスをリリース。Justin Timberlakeのリミックスも手がけるなど、幅広い活動を行っている。Modular Recordingsからリリースされたサードアルバム‘Eine Kleine Nacht Musik’ も絶賛販売中。
